Deformation mechanisms, Rheology and Tectonics

DRT 2011 Meeting

31st August-2nd September, Oviedo (Spain)

Deformation mechanisms, Rheology and Tectonics (DRT) meetings are a series of international meetings dedicated to the study of deformation processes in rocks at different scales, from the microstructure of deformed rocks under the microscope, to the study of bulk deformation of the lithosphere. Most of tectonic processes at depth have an effect at the Earth surface, and what happens at the surface may even have a feedback effect on active processes at depth.

The present level of exposure of Variscan structures in NW Iberia will allow visiting structures formed at increasing crustal depths, from East to West, some of which will be visited in the pre- and post-conference fieldtrips. We hope that the geological location of Oviedo (see geological map above) will be an inspiration during the meeting, in the conference hall, poster room and in the field.

Information will be updated as conference dates approach, please bookmark this site to keep up to date.
